Oluwatoyin is a talented illustrator, fashion designer and 3d digital artist who combines her love for teaching into making sure more people have access to this very unique skill set.

Digital Portrait

Ife draws inspiration from the Yoruba concept of Egungun—the ancestral spirits that manifest in masquerades. Ife calls this project ‘Agba’ and it is the first-of-its-kind digital masquerade that reimagines the ancient Egungun tradition by the Yoruba people; bringing design and neural networks together to preserve our cultural stories. 

Drawing major inspiration from my Yoruba roots and the concept of “Egungun”, a belief that our ancestors are forever with us and from time to time, they will physically manifest in form of Masquerades.”

Ifedolapo continues, “The first Digital African Masquerade - Agba For so long now, many entities have systematically held us down and severed our ties to what makes us unique, but our resilience as a people forever keeps us energized in whatever little corner of the earth we may find ourselves. However, in this new age of technological advancements, it is imperative that we, as africans, need to evolve with the times. We need to do this without jeopardizing the richness of our culture and traditions that have been borne and passed down from eons of joy, pain, discovery, innovation and persistence of our ancestors. My solution, Agba, is a first-of-its-kind digital masquerade with a neural network trained on esoteric African knowledge from across the continent and tribes of Alkebulan.”

A Sunday Mutuku Story

Adedeji Kayode Isaac is a 3D Designer and experiential designer working at CheckDC. Kayode’s latest work, the "Miniature Project," takes us into a charmingly detailed miniature world. This project is an intricate representation of urban life, captured in bite-size.

The level of detail in the tiny trees, street lamps, the parked car, and the subtle touches in the environment draw you in. It’s a visual treat representing typical urban life from a different perspective.

"This short animation started from a midnight scroll on instagram, which gave me a drive to create an environment, I was going for something simple in order to create something quick with the current burning passion, but ended up creating a story out of it, I kept developing the idea from just a corridor environment to an animation involving a character being abducted then I added a subplot which involved a cat trying to hunt a rat, in which they also got abducted."

"This art was inspired by Max Hay art and Sweeper3D art. It started from a monolith design I saw on Max Hay's instagram, but I didn't want to make it a dark fantasy like his, I wanted it to be huge with a lot of grass and mountains at the back to indicate a hidden location. In short, I wanted to create something that feels hidden and also a safe haven that feels surreal, maybe something like Noah's Ark of some sort. Which inspired the name sanctum."

" Season Two’s title sequence, most especially the shot with a man standing on an abandoned bridge, but I also wanted to create something abandoned and at the same time give a feeling of hope and beauty, definitely not in the night hours."

"This animation was as a result of a quarterly 3D challenge organized by Clinton Jones a.k.a Pwnisher on Youtube. This was done in a short time, since I promised myself I will join in to improve my skills. So the inspiration came from the theme of the challenge, I was hoping to tell a story showcasing a character in a white garment, holding a scroll ascending to a city in the sky at the same time showcasing an environment with a futuristic cyberpunk world that is dark with neon lights, and flying vehicles blending with a fantastical abode in the heavens sitting in the clouds which is bright, plain and peaceful."

Saviour Okusenogu, a 3D Animator and VFX superstar brings the LYS Beauty products to life. @lysbeautyofficial is a makeup brand that sets new standards for clean beauty. Saviour created a series of entertaining short commercials to introduce their excited customers to a new line of products, such as Lipstick and Lipliner.

Saviour notes that the secret to great projects is to "Find the right references and inspiration, work with smart people, and make sure you and your clients understand what you are trying to achieve."

LYS Beauty Products

Eaxum is an animation studio dedicated to telling African stories in pure and beautiful form. The featured project, "F’áyà wó Pursuit," is a gripping animated short film that captures the daring world of F’áyà wó drivers—those who smuggle food items into Nigeria through the western borders. These drivers modify their vehicles for high-speed chases to evade customs, risking their lives for a living.

The film vividly portrays the thrilling, dangerous chase scenes that have become a part of the rural Nigerian experience, where customs officers engage in cat-and-mouse games with the F’áyà wó smugglers.

F’áyà wó Pursuit

3d Artist and Motion Designer, Tolulope Olusesan loves coming up with abstract and surreal artworks that capture religious interpretations and mythical tales. Olusesan writes about his recent project titled ‘The Echoes of the Orisha’, “this is a series that explores and reinterprets the Yoruba myths using art and movies. It includes a set of art pieces and a movie series that show the Yoruba gods in a new way, while also telling a story about reconnecting with our cultural background and traditions. Right now, there are two art pieces in the series, and an animated short film is being made that will be released soon.”

Owo Anietie’s digital art series tagged ‘Blurred Identity’ is a collection of 10 distinctive artworks based on the same underlying concept sparking dialogue on the erasure of indigenous identities. Owo references the Queen Mother, Idia who has met a similar fate and is presently housed at the British Museum.

Introducing the Official Trailer for Yekini: Animated Series. Yekini Animated Mini Series is a spin-off from the original project Gbenga began over 7 years ago, called FELELE! The Yekini story revolves around a gifted 17-year-old boy with a deep desire to play football at the highest level of professional competition, the EKO league. However, his mother wants him to focus on his studies and become a lawyer, so he can claim his late father's inheritance from his relatives. Yekini faces many challenges as he strives to become one of the best football players in Eko City's Eko League.

Daniel Tijesuni is a remarkable 3D designer and animator, in this personal challenge, he brings the 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabrio to life with exceptional detailing. Daniel Tijesuni writes, "This project was more of a material study for me. Inspired and helped by the Holy spirit, I dived deep into how to achieve photorealistic results. I designed a Porsche because it’s one of my dream cars and since I can’t afford it yet why not just render it?

There are still a lot of nice unrendered camera angles 😂. We had to just pick about 10 out of over 30. Hopefully, I’d put out more photorealistic renders soon by God’s Grace."
