From the streets of Dakar to the coastal city of Ouidah and the everyday bustle of Lagos, Nigerian photographer Folajimi has built a growing collection of photographs documenting people, places, and the moments that make them memorable. His work moves between street photography, intimate portraits, fashion editorials, and commercial campaigns, offering different perspectives on contemporary life and culture across West Africa.
In Senegal, he photographs siblings dressed for Tabaski celebrations, documenting the tradition of visiting relatives and receiving Ndëwënal, gifts or pocket money given to children and young people during the festivities. Elsewhere, he turns his camera towards fashion, photographing collections for brands such as Lisiida and Pith Africa, or creating portraits of artists and other creative professionals in the familiar surroundings of his living room.

Although these projects differ in purpose and production, they share an interest in people and how they present themselves. Folajimi pays attention to clothing, gestures, expressions, and the environments his subjects occupy, finding opportunities for storytelling in both spontaneous encounters and carefully arranged compositions.

Some of his most interesting photographs come from situations where very little appears to have been arranged. His travel photographs pay attention to the people, architecture, clothing, and activities that make up everyday life. Rather than treating these elements as background details, he allows them to contribute to the story of each image.
