Emmanuel Eberenna Ugboaja, a graphic designer and digital artist, uses collage to focus on issues that resonate with Nigerians today. His latest series combines stark imagery with bold design to address topics like Nigeria’s agricultural future and financial crimes. Through cut-outs and abstract shapes, Emmanuel creates layers of meaning, drawing attention to the challenges Nigerians face daily.

In these collage-style posters, Emmanuel highlights social issues that Nigerians face daily. His art combines cut-outs, text, and strong shapes to deliver messages that are not only visually striking but also very meaningful.

“Earlier into the year, I honestly wanted to show what I could do, and it was a case of ‘creating what I would like to see in the world’. But I didn’t want to go down the regular graphic design route. Earlier into my journey as a designer I had experimented with collages and mixed media, so taking a cue from early Russian constructivism (which has a huge influence on modern graphic design), and with Nigeria being in a sort of weird place just after the 2023 elections, I thought it would be fun to highlight some of the issues we faced everyday, with cut outs of headlines from the newspapers.”

Emmanuel Eberenna Ugboaja is a graphic designer and digital artist passionate about visual composition.
