Abdussamad Ibrahim is a brand-centric multidisciplinary designer, brand strategist, and visual storyteller who has spent the last five years creating cohesive identity systems and digital experiences for ambitious brands. With a robust professional background spanning roles such as Design Lead and Creative Fashion Director, Abdussamad is also a Figma Community Advocate for FOF Kano. Their expertise bridges brand research, user experience research, communications design, and advanced spatial visualization. This multifaceted practice is rooted in community building and cultural research, enabling Abdussamad to merge traditional heritage with modern design frameworks.

A striking demonstration of this technical versatility and research-led philosophy is the conceptual residential architecture project Gidan Kasa (meaning “Earth House” or “Mud House”). Driven by a desire to show how indigenous design principles can adapt to contemporary lifestyles while preserving cultural essence, Abdussamad reinterprets the traditional Hausa mud-house courtyard typology through a modern lens. Taking full ownership of the architectural visualization and design development, the process involved researching vernacular Northern Nigerian architecture and translating those elements into a high-end residential layout centered on a communal courtyard that optimizes natural light, privacy, and cross-ventilation.

Abdussamad says their process focused on hard-surface geometry, organic material texturing, and physical light-path calculations in Blender and by using the Cycles rendering engine, he was able to achieve breathtaking realism, shaped by a warm, monochromatic, earthy palette that echoes traditional mud structures. Abdussamad Ibrahim’s work is compelling in how it treats indigenous African architectural language as a sophisticated foundation for contemporary luxury rather than a relic of the past. The project offers an actionable blueprint for forward-thinking spatial and visual designers.
