"As an artist, my primary source of inspiration is my surroundings, and lately, the state of things around me has been impossible to ignore. While exploring Vincent Tsui's 'Animated Bits' section, I was struck with inspiration to create my own animated loop. The first idea that came to mind was a regressive loop—symbolizing the constant backward movement and stagnation I see in my country today."

Samuel Jolayemi’s piece, "PlungiNG," explores the challenging state of Nigeria ahead of its 64th Independence Day. Through his animated illustration, Samuel symbolically represents the stagnation and backward movement he observes in the country today.

The last few years have been no doubt challenging for Nigerians as the Naira currency has been in a state of free fall.
