Bolu Sowoolu is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans digital illustration, animation, clay work, traditional painting and sketching, and 3D design. While her primary medium is digital, her work reflects an understanding of both physical and virtual processes, allowing her to move fluidly between formats.

Her portfolio covers a wide range of applied and artistic outputs. She has created song and album cover art, visualizers, and event posters, alongside illustration-based work such as character design, concept art, and editorial illustrations for magazines and publications. Her practice also extends to comic strips and panels, as well as realistic portraiture. In addition to static works, she produces motion-based pieces, particularly in 2D animation. This adds a temporal dimension to her practice, allowing her visual language to exist both as still imagery and as moving form.

Her approach to figure construction is grounded in real human anatomy. The faces, body structures, and gestures in her work are based on recognizable human forms, which provides a clear point of entry for viewers. She builds on this foundation by introducing controlled distortions. Features such as necks, eyes, and limbs are often stretched, enlarged, or softened, creating figures that deviate from natural proportions while maintaining structural coherence.

This method results in figures that are visually identifiable as human but carry altered physical qualities. The balance between anatomical familiarity and distortion defines the appearance of her characters. Across her work, this approach allows her to produce figures that are consistent in construction while adaptable across different formats, from editorial illustration to animation and concept-driven pieces.
